I got Boss in late 1997, 5 weeks before my senior recital for my Bachelor of Music in flute performance...and consequently my playing improved substantially, she's a flute that was designed for the level of playing I was doing. Boss is a Powell 2100 series, originally with a silver "P" headjoint, but I switch it out with a Goosman "Bravo" (silver with rose gold chimney) headjoint for a sweeter sound most of the time. (And if you know what I'm talking about in any of that, you ARE a flute nerd.)
There's nothing frilly or fruity about Boss. She's versatile enough to play the sweetest classical movement, and tough enough to own it with a rock band.
